Valley Blue Sox Walk Off Against SteepleCats

HOLYOKE, Mass. – Mason Wolf hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to complete an 8-7 comeback win for the Valley Blue Sox over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball League action on Saturday night.   Valley scored three runs in the ninth after North Adams scored in the top of the inning to build a 7-5 lead.   Aiden Stewart went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Gehrig Ebel was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in for North Adams.   The SteepleCats (9-28) come home to host Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday evening at Joe Wolfe Field.

SteepleCats Snap 10-Game Skid

SANFORD, Maine -- Samuel Tackett went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs Friday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 6-3 win over the Mainers in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.   Taconic High School graduate Sam Sherman also went 2-for-4 for North Adams, which collected 10 hits in snapping a 10-game losing streak.   Will Tobin earned the win on the mound, striking out seven and allowing just two runs in five innings of work.   North Adams (9-27) travels to Holyoke to play the Valley Blue Sox on Saturday.

ACS Swat 16s Outslug Greylock Thunder

ADAMS, Mass. – Ashlyn Lesure hit a two-run home run and scored three times Thursday to lead the ACS Swat to a 16-7 win over the Greylock Thunder in the Berkshire County Fast Pitch Softball 16U division.   The Swat jumped on top with a four-run first inning that featured an RBI single by Nora Kondel.   The hosts built that lead to 8-0 over the next two innings as Gabby Driscoll held the Thunder to two hits and stranded six runners in the first three frames.   With one out and a runner on third in the bottom of the third, Leisure hit a bomb deep to left field and raced around the bases for an inside-the-park homer.   The Thunder struck back for four runs in the top

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Vermont Mountaineers Monday scored a run in the top of the seventh to break a tie and went on to a 5-4 win over the SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.   Gehrig Ebel tripled and drove in a run for North Adams, which got hits from Taconic graduates Cedric Rose and Sam Sherman.   Dominick Marcoccio struck out three and allowed one hit and no runs in four innings on the mound for North Adams.   The SteepleCats (8-25) goes to Montpelier to play Vermont on Thursday.

Lenox Soccer Program Seeks Newcomers from Pre-K to Fourth Grade

LENOX, Mass. -- Beginning soccer players in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade are welcome to join the Mighty Kickers program this fall.   The development program is open to children from any community. Two SteepleCats to Start NECBL All-Star Game

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – North Adams SteepleCats Kyle Hannon and Samuel Tackett Sunday were named starters for next weekend’s New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.   Hannon got the nod to start for the NECBL Western Division at third base.   The Penn State senior is hitting .282 in 29 games this summer. He has two home runs, seven doubles and 10 RBIs.   Tackett will start at third base on Sunday, July 23, at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.   This summer, he is hitting .268 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, both high on the team.
