NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Frank Joseph Grassi, 83, of 86 Catherine St. died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the Williamstown Commons.
Born in Clarksburg on June 20, 1929, a son of Frank and Giovanna Monegheni Grassi, he attended schools in North Adams.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he enlisted in 1950 and was a decorated soldier, earning a Purple Heart.
Mr. Grassi was employed at the former General Electric in Pittsfield for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
His wife, the former Marion Strange, died in 1973.
He leaves a son, Sterling Grassi and his wife, Tracy, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Anthony Grassi, Gina King, Sandy Lloyd, Jamie Stromaiher and Samantha Lloyd, a great-grandson, Jaheem Z. Dumpson, and his companion of more than 30 years, Joan Brown.
 FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Grassi will be Monday, Feb. 4, at 10:30 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in the spring in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
