Joseph A. Fulginiti, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joseph Anthony "Jo-Jo" Fulginiti, 77, of 150 Ashland St. died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.

Born in North Adams on March 20, 1935, son of Augustine and Agnes Cardinal Fulginiti, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Lillian Mezzanotte Fulginiti, and attended North Adams schools including Drury High School.

Mr. Fulginiti was first employed by the former Widen Tannery but will be remembered for his work at the former Mohawk Theater, where he was employed for many years. He was among those named by Mayor Richard Alcombright at a benefit concert two days earlier for the theater when referring to its golden years.

A communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, he enjoyed music, especially opera, and Jimmy Dorsey, his favorite being Dorsey's "I'ma Pola." He also enjoyed watching movies.

He leaves his uncle, Anthony Fulginiti and his wife, Angeline, of Melrose, and two aunts, Rita Vecellio and Mary Fulginiti of North Adams.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Fulginiti will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9 to0:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.

You will will be fondly remembered. You are as iconic to North Adams as the steeples, the Hoosac tunnel, and the Mohawk marquee. The marquee is lit each night to you now. Rest, and go catch a matinee. :)
