Barbara R. Emery, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara R. Emery, 86, of 38 Bryant St. died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.

Born in North Adams on Nov. 7, 1925, a daughter of Herman Arthur and Katherine A. Doyle Haskins, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.

Mrs. Emery was employed by New England Telephone Co. as an operator for more than 30 years.

She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member of the Court Margaret Catholic Daughters and the Rosary Society.

Her husband, John Patrick Emery, whom she married Oct. 5, 1946, died Jan. 4, 1994.

She leaves her daughter, Mary Ross and her husband, John, of Las Vegas; two sons, John Michael Emery and his wife, Lynette, and David A. Emery and his wife, Susan, all of North Adams; a sister, Mary Williams of North Adams; two brothers, Kenneth Haskins and Robert Haskins, both of North Adams; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Jody Kocsis, Kurtis and Mitchell Emery and Shawn and Scott Ross, and eight great-grandchildren.

Her daughter, Katherine Kocsis, her brothers Harold Haskins and sisters Helen Fredericks and Kay Fredericks predeceased her.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Emery will be celebrated Thursday, March 8, at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 7, from 5 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
