NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bernard H. Gagne, 72, of 18 Harrison Ave. died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on Jan. 10, 1940, son of Bernard and Marceline Fillion Gardner, he attended schools in Adams, including the former Adams High School.
Mr. Gagne was employed at Excelsior Printing and, prior to that, at James Hunter Machine Co. for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and served as a volunteer at the Notre Dame bingo program. Mr. Gagne enjoyed bowling and was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Celtics fan.
He and his wife, the former Nancy Scarbo, were married Aug. 19, 1961.
Besides his wife, who was also his caregiver, he leaves two sons, Bruce M. Gagne of North Adams and Steven B. Gagne and his wife, Victoria, of Adams; a brother, Thomas Gagne and his wife, Diane, of North Carolina; a sister, Joyce Beauchemin and her husband, Richard, of Adams; six grandchildren, Timothy, Heather, Ashley, Steven, Miranda and Tiffany; nine great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Gagne will be celebrated Friday, March 2, at 10:30 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 1, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
