NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gloria A. Gajda, 88, formerly of North Adams and Bayonet Point, Fla., died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth, Maine.
Born in North Adams on June 6, 1922, daughter of Vito and Laurena Cellana, she graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Gajda was the cafeteria manager of Sullivan Elementary School for 20 years. After retiring in 1983, she and her husband, Francis M. Gajda, moved to Bayonet Point, returning to the Berkshires each summer.
Her husband of 64 years is deceased, as are her brother, Aldo Cellana, and two sisters, Norma Cellana and Bianca Cellana, all of North Adams, Mass.
She leaves her daughter, Karen Cunningham and her husband, John, of Scarborough, Maine; two grandchildren, Tara Knupp and her husband, Andrew, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Tige Cunningham and his wife, Bethany, of Scarborough; four great-grandchildren who always brought her joy, Sarah Elizabeth and Riley Jane Knupp, and Sean Murphy and Bianca Mae Cunningham, and numerous nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church on Friday morning, May 6, 2011 at 11. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
