NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Phyllis Frances Tatro, 86, of 27-2 South Meadow Village, Carver, formerly of North Adams, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her home.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 27, 1924, daughter of William and Frances Bressette Belanger, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1942, and later from the former Bliss Business College.
In her early years, Mrs. Tatro worked at a personal finance company. After her marriage, she lived in Middlebury, Vt., where she worked for the state of Vermont until 1950. She returned to North Adams and was employed at the former McCraw and Tatro Store until it closed, and she moved to Canton. She was last employed by Jordan Marsh Co. for 26 years until her retirement from its Brockton store in 1986.
While in North Adams, she was a member of the North Adams Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Travel Club.
She was a member of United Parish in Carver. She enjoyed travel and playing golf.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey B. Tatro of Manchester, N.H.; a daughter, Karyn Wilson of Assonet; grandchildren Joshua Scott Wilson, Chad Butler Wilson and Alexandra Lauren Tatro; and a great-grandson, Cullen Scott Wilson.
Her husband, Harold B. Tatro, whom she married Aug. 6, 1947, died on Sept. 18, 2003.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A private graveside service will held for Mrs. Tatro in the spring in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perkins Library in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
