NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bernard William O'Neill, 79, of 82 Beaver St. died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at home, surrounded by family.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 23, 1930, son of Henry O'Neill and Rose Vaughn O'Neill Barbeau, he attended the former St. Joseph's High School.
Mr. O'Neill was employed at the former Barber Leather Co. Before that, he worked for the city of North Adams in the cemetery department.
He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He leaves a sister, Eileen Dargie of North Adams; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette O'Neil and Harriet O'Neil, both of North Adams, and 27 nieces and nephews, including his caregivers David and Deanna Burdick, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. O'Neill will be Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Friday from 10 until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
