NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara Elizabeth Guertin Gardzina, 76, of 136 Veazie St. died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at North adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on May 27, 1933, daughter of Clarence and Hazel Benjamin Goddard, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Gardzina was employed at the former Hoosac Cotton Mills, the former C.B. Sports and, lastly, at Treet Cleaners.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of the VFW Post 996 Ladies' Auxiliary and loved to crochet.
She and her husband, Francis P. Gardzina Sr.
Besides her husband, she leaves six daughters, Rose Maynard of Williamstown, Debra Lewis, Patricia Bentley, Doreen Stanley and Darlene Guertin, all of North Adams, and Barbara Grover of Manchester, Vt.; a son, Thomas Guertin of North Adams; two stepsons, Francis Gardzina Jr. of Williamstown and Andrew Gardzina of North Adams; a stepdaughter, Kathy Olverson of Williamstown; two sisters, Mary Langlois of Clarksburg and Helen McGinis of Conway; two brothers, Clarence Goddard Jr. and Ralph Goddard, both of Clarksburg.
She was predeceased by her son Norman Guertin Jr. and two sisters, Elizabeth Van and Margaret Van.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs.Gardzina will take place Friday, Jan. 29, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will take place in the springtime.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for Dr. George L. Curran VFW Post 996 Ladies' Auxiliary.
