Helene L. Falkouski, 70, of 95 Laurel St., Greenfield, a former resident of North Adams, died Thursday morning at Franklin County Medical Center in Greenfield.
Born in Claremont, N.H., on Oct. 5, 1930, daughter of Lillian Bell LaPlante and the late William F. LaPlante, she moved to North Adams as a child and was a 1948 graduate of Drury High School and a 1950 graduate of Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt.
Mrs. Falkouski was employed by the former Strong-Hewat Woolen Store on Ashland Street and as a sales representative for the former Shopper's Companion newspaper in Adams. After moving to New York state, she worked for Ames Department Store in Granville. She lived in Glens Falls, N.Y., until 1992, when she moved to Greenfield.
She was a past member of the North Adams Emblem Club and enjoyed sewing and reading.
Besides her mother, of Greenfield, she leaves a daughter, Karen Taylor of Greenfield; a son, Rick Falkouski of Tampa, Fla., and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 11 at the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, will be Thursday before the service from 9:45 to 10:45. Memorial donations are suggested for the Joslin Diabetes Center through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
