NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Robert James Greenwood, 86, formerly of West Shaft Road, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Bay State Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. He had resided at Anchorage Nursing Home in Shelburne for several years.
Born in Springfield on Feb 22, 1923, son of Harold and Fern Downs Greenwood, he grew up there.
Mr. Greenwood was employed as a janitor at the former Greylock Mill and had assisted in the operation of the family farm.
He leaves several cousins, including Inez Estes, Barbara Estes, Bruce Estes and Vivian Mold and their families, all of the North Adams area, and several cousins in Vermont.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Greenwood will be held Tuesday, May 26, at 1 from Auge-San Soucie Simmons Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from noon to 1 on Tuesday.
