NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joyce Lillian Kornn, 77, of North Adams, more recently of 35 Adams Road, Williamstown, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 26, 1931, daughter of Clinton and Mary Wade Jones, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School.
Mrs. Kornn was employed at North Adams Regional Hospital for 17 years, until her retirement in 1992. She also had worked in the cafeteria at Drury High School and at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a longtime volunteer at NARH.
Her husband, Richard L. Kornn, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1953, who died on Feb. 25, 1979.
She leaves a son, Richard D. Kornn of Adams; two daughters, Jean E. Thompson of Williamstown and Bonny J. Burgoyne of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Beverly Amato of Williamstown; six grandchildren, Brian Thompson, Steven Thompson, Megan Thompson, Jodi Hoffman, Travis Burgoyne and Rachel Kornn, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Albert Fountain, Clinton Jones and Mary Howland
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Kornn will be conducted Thursday, May 7, at 10 at First Baptist Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to Village Ambulance in care of the funeral home.
