NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rita L. Theberge, 90, of Merritt Island, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice in Florida.
Born in Adams on March 11, 1918, she resided most of her life in North Adams. She moved to Merritt Island in 1988 to be closer to her three children.
Her husband, Alfred "Bob" Theberge, whom she married in 1935, died in 1967. Rita lived most of her life in North Adams.
She leaves two daughters, Norma A. Burdett and Jacquelyn M. Bushey, both of Merritt Island; a son, Gary R. Tanner of Merritt Island; five grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Private graveside services for Mrs. Theberge took place in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, was in charge of arrangements.
Although I hadn't seen Rita in well over 20 years, I never forgot who she was. She was a sincere friend of my mother and the wonderful mother of a friend of mine; her son, Gary.
