Ralph J. Lesure Sr., 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph Joseph Lesure Sr., 83, of 223 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Williamstown on Nov. 6, 1925, son of Harold and Lillian Rondeau Lesure, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lesure was employed by the former General Cable Co. in North Adams and in Williamstown until his retirement in 1986. Before that, he had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co.

He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed bowling and crossword puzzles.

His first wife, the former Joan Hurley, whom he married on Jan. 24, 1948, died on Oct. 17, 1978.

His wife, the former Faith Phoenix Dickinson, whom he married July 13, 1979, died June 30, 1988.

He leaves three sons, Robert F. Lesure of Manassas, Va., Ralph J. Lesure Jr. of North Adams and Donald A. Lesure of Lantana, Texas; a daughter, Candace Kavey of Kissimmee, Fla.; four stepchildren, Peter Dickinson, Geralyn Lesure and Lynette Emery, all of North Adams, and Robert Dickinson of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister, Kathleen James of North Adams, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by five other siblings, Albert Lesure, Francis Lesure, Margaret MacDonald, Elinor Graziani and Lillian LeClair.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Lesure will be Saturday, Jan. 3, at 8:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, formerly St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, Jan. 2, from 4 to 7. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire or to the North Adams Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home.
