Katherine Mendonsa, 56, of 5303 North 7th St., Phoenix, formerly of North Adams, died Thursday at Sherman Hospice House in Phoenix.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 8, 1950, daughter of Barbara Haskins Emery and the late John Patrick Emery, she graduated from Drury High School in 1969 and attended the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Mrs. Mendonsa was employed in the accounts payable office of Discount Tire Co. in Phoenix. Before that, she was employed by Berkshire ARC in Pittsfield for several years.
She enjoyed knitting and baking.
She was married to William Mendonsa Jr.
Besides her husband and mother, of North Adams, she leaves a daughter, Jennifer Kocsis of Worcester; a son, Jody Kocsis of Pownal, Vt.; four stepdaughters, Michelle Ryan, Marka Mendonsa, Marisa Vanasse and Marie Myers, all of Phoenix a sister, Mary Ross of Las Vegas; two brothers, John and David Emery, both of North Adams; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Katherine Emery Mendonsa, who died Thursday, May 24, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.
Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Alicia Kocsis, and four grandchildren, Alaina, Oliver, Madelyn and Lyla Kocsis.
