Robert William Dalmaso

Robert William Dalmaso, 72, of 80 North Holden St. died Thursday at his home.

Born in North Adams on Oct. 9, 1934, son of William Edgar and Rose Dumas Dalmaso, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1953.

Mr. Dalmaso owned and operated the former Adams News in Adams, from 1977 until 1989. Earlier he had worked for the former Paramount and Mohawk theaters in North Adams, and was the manager of the men's department of the former Boston Store in North Adams.

He had last worked as a security guard for Kimball Farms Retirement Community in Lenox until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

He was a New York Yankees fan.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary Jane Daniels, whom he married Feb. 4, 1967.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Clayton Dalmaso of North Adams; a sister, Agnes Diamond of North Adams; and a brother, William Dalmaso of Hancock.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Robert William Dalmaso, who died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 9 a.m. from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, North Adams, with Rev. Edward King, rector, officiating.

Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, in care of the funeral home. Mr. Dalmaso also leaves his son's fiancee, Christine Godbout of North Adams.
