Laurette Marie Genest, 92, of 640 State Road died Saturday evening at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown, where she was admitted April 25, 2000.
Born in Cohoes, N.Y., on Nov. 29, 1908, daughter of Fortunat and Eulalie Lajeunesse Genest, she moved to North Adams as a child and was a graduate of Drury High School.
Miss Genest was employed for many years as a housekeeper for the Rev. Pierre H. Gauthier, pastor of Notre Dame Church in Holyoke. She retired in 1960.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
She leaves a sister, Eleanor Bouchard of New Milford, N.J.
Services will be Tuesday at 9:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247.
