Ruth Pindick, 87, of 75 Central Ave. died Wednesday at home.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, on Oct. 5, 1918, daughter of Myer Smith and Dora Berenson Smith Myers, she moved to the Boston area at an early age and was educated in Boston schools.
Mrs. Pindick was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984. Before that, she worked at the former Wise Dress Shop. She and her husband, the late Isadore Herbert Pindick, also operated the former Corner Package and Variety and Munchin' Out Deli in Adams for many years.
She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and of its Ladies' Auxiliary, and a former member of Hadassah.
She enjoyed movies, gardening, flowers and painting.
Her husband, whom she married April 7, 1940, died Jan. 23, 2003.
She leaves a daughter, Gail Giorgi of North Adams, with whom she resided; a son, Benjamin Pindick of Williamstown; five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ruth Pindick, who died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, will be Friday, July 28, at 11 at Congregation Beth Israel, 53 Lois St., North Adams. Burial will follow in the family lot in Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Kathy Pindick, and five grandchildren, Alan and Neal Giorgi, both of North Adams, Jeffrey Pindick of Albany, N.Y., Jennifer Billert of Bennington, Vt., and Robin Bates of Pownal, Vt. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
