 Mrs. Joan Patricia ( Nichols) Bushika

Mrs. Joan Patricia ( Nichols) Bushika, 77, of 23 Goodrich Street, North Adams, Mass died Sunday July 9, 2006 at the North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in North Adams, Mass on February 25, 1929 a daughter of the late Harry R. Nichols and Anne Agnes ( Hosty) Nichols.
She was educated in North Adams schools including the former St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams with the Class of 1947. She also completed home study courses in interior design.
Mrs Bushika was employed in retailing with the former Boston Store and Zayre’s Department Store in North Adams. Later, she was employed at the former Green Mountain Race Track in Pownal Vermont. Before her retirement she was a waitress and later dining manager at the Saratoga, New York Race Track.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church of North Adams.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Frank “Geecho†Bushika whom she married July 5, 1947 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Two sons-Brian Bushika & Christopher Bushika, both of North Adams One daughter Susan Bushika of Adams, Mass Five grandchildren—Garren Bushika & Shawna Bushika of Springfield, ILL Kenna Major & Kyla Major, both of Adams, Mass Mikala Bushika of North Adams. Ma One stepgrandchild—Katie-Lee Bunn of North Adams, Ma One sister—Shirley Najan of Ontario, Canada One brother-Robert T. Nichols of Buffalo, NY She was predeceased by a brother Kevin Patrick Nichols on Sept 26,1993
FUNERAL NOTICE; Funeral services for Joan (Nichols) Bushika will take place Wednesday July 12, 2006 at 8:15 AM at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St, North Adams followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday July 11, 2006 from 4 PM to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory are suggested for the Alzheimers Research in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include Five grandchildren—Garren Bushika & Shawna Bushika of Springfield, ILL; Kenna Major & Kyla Major ,both of Adams; and Mikala Bushika of North Adams; One stepgrandchild—Katie-Lee Bunn of North Adams. She was predeceased by a brother Kevin Patrick Nichols on Sept 26,1993.
