Dominic Anthony Perrone, 96, of 1689 Massachusetts Ave. died yesterday afternoon at Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown.
Born in North Adams on June 21, 1909, son of Anacleto and Caterina Fuoto Perrone, he attended schools in North Adams, including the former St. Joseph's High School.
Mr. Perrone was a veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the Army from May 18, 1942, until his honorable discharge on November 24, 1945.
He received several medals for his service, including the Good Conduct Medal and the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.
Prior to World War II, Mr. Perrone was employed in the shoe industry in North Adams, working at Weber Shoe Co., Wall-Streeter, Melanson's and the McMillan Box Shop. He was also employed by the former Clark Biscuit Co., Barber Leather, and Arnold Print Works.
Following the war, Mr. Perrone was employed by Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1975. He also was involved in real estate and property management.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
He leaves cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Dominic Perrone, who died Thursday, May 11, 2006, will be celebrated Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Burial with Veteran's Honors will follow in Southview cemetery.
Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS are Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
He leaves several cousins, including Julia Toohey of North Adams and other cousins in New York and Italy. He was predeceased by a sister, Yolanda Perrone, and three brothers, Attilio Perrone, Ugo Perrone and Emilio A. Perrone.
