Gloria Jane Lipka Nye, 72, of 3 Cherokee Drive died Thursday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Saugus on Oct. 23, 1933, daughter of Russell and Phyllis Griffin Collins, she attended schools on Cape Cod and in East Boston. She moved to this area in 1955.
Mrs. Nye worked as a nurse's aide at Sweetwood Continuing Care Retirement Community in Williamstown for 12 years, retiring five years ago. While in Boston, she was employed by Filene's in Downtown Crossing for several years.
She played bingo for many years.
Her husband, John E. Nye, whom she married Feb. 21, 1970, died Oct. 23, 1996.
She leaves three sons, Scott Lipka and Stanley Lipka, both of North Adams, and Shawn Lipka of Adams; a daughter, Laura Belleau of Adams; two stepsons, Peter Nye of Pennsylvania, and Michael Nye of Cheshire; two stepdaughters, Wendy Cook of North Adams and Deborah Yurkevicius of Louisburg, N.C.; a sister, Juanita Collins of Naples, Fla., and seven grandchildren.
Another son, Stephen Lipka, died in 1982.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gloria Lipka Nye will be Monday, March 27, at 11 at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
