Barbara J. Dowsey, 63, of Westfield, formerly of North Adams and Pittsfield, died Monday at Noble Hospital in Westfield.
Born in Chester on Jan. 16, 1943, daughter of Gilbert and Elsie Chaffee McLeod, she attended Chester schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She left Pittsfield in 1970 when she moved back to Chester. She had also lived in Westfield, Agawam and North Carolina before moving back to Western Massachusetts.
She was a resident of North Adams for three years before moving to Westfield in 2005.
Mrs. Dowsey volunteered for several charitable organizations.
She leaves two sons, Peter Sprague of Feeding Hills and Kirk Dowsey of Westfield; two daughters, Pamela Fetrige of Santa Ana, Calif., and Colleen Barton-Daly of Gardnerville, Nev.; a sister, Eileen Hebert of Chicopee, and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Barbara Dowsey, who died Monday, March 6, 2006, will be held Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at Union Church, 91 Jasper St., Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Mrs. Dowsey also leaves a niece, Darlene Bellinger in Palmer, and her friend and caregiver, Kathy Guertin of Westfield.
