Theresa Yarter

January 20, 2006

Theresa Yarter, 68, of 448 Union St. died Friday at Sweet Brook Transitional Care and Living Center in Williamstown.

Born in Adams on March 5, 1937, daughter of the late Andrew and Ursula Koscielniak Matuszak, she graduated from the former Adams High School and from the former Bliss Business College.

Mrs. Yarter was employed for several years by Sprague Electric Co.

She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and an accomplished stained-glass artist.

She also taught and studied yoga and won several awards for crewel and embroidery creations.

She and her husband, Russell E. Yarter, celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary Oct. 11. They were married in St. Stanislaus' Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, Brenda Wimpenney of Nashua, N.H., Kim Yarter of Hinsdale, Paula Yarter of the town of Florida and Tammy Daury of North Adams; two brothers, Andrew Matuszak of North Adams and Paul Matuszak of Adams; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Theresa Yarter, who died Jan. 20, 2006, will take place at a later date. There willbe no calling hours.

Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or to the Sweet Brook Care Center Activities Fund through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams.

Survivors include two sons-in-law, Robert Gaudette and Steve Wimpenney. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary J. Czubryt, on Dec. 27, 2005.
