Preston L. Smith III, 47, of 163 Pleasant St. died Saturday at North Adams Commons after a long illness.
Born in North Adams on April 22, 1958, son of Preston L. Smith Jr. and Patricia Roy Smith, he attended schools in California.
A Marine Corps veteran, he served as a corporal.
Mr. Smith was employed by Dunn's Tree Service Co. in Stamford, Vt., for several years.
Besides his parents, of San Diego, he leaves a daughter, April Smith of Vernon, Conn.; a son, Brandon Smith of Clarksburg, and two sisters, Debra Smith and Susan Howie, both of El Cajon, Calif.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Preston L. Smith III will be Saturday from 5 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass.
Burial with full military honors will be in the spring in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Donations are suggested in his memory through the funeral home.
He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
