Doris Marie Quinton, 81, of 581 State St. died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Sunday.
Born in Adams on May 10, 1924, daughter of David A. and Alice Morin Davis, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Quinton was employed in the cafeteria at Conte Middle School. Before that, she worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. until it closed and at the former Sprague Electric Co.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and enjoyed reading, movies and traveling.
She and her husband, Thomas Joseph Quinton Sr., were married July 1, 1944, at Notre Dame Church in Adams. He died Dec. 31, 1978.
She leaves a son, Thomas J. Quinton Jr. of North Adams, with whom she made her home; a daughter, Nancy Anne Rowett of Dalton; a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris Davis Quinton, who died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, will be celebrated Friday at 10 at St. Francis' Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Private calling hours for family and close friends will be Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels. Memorial donations to Masses or to St. Francis' Building Fund may be made in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
She also leaves a granddaughter, Krista Lee Rowett; two great-grandchildren, Justyn and Alexis Cowell; a sister-in-law, Helen Merklein, and nieces and nephews. A sister, Florence Law, died Oct. 2, 2005.
