Lillian V. Morey

Lillian V. Morey, 78, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.

She was a local civic leader and advocate for the elderly

Born in North Adams on Dec. 30, 1926, daughter of Herbert and Alice Morton Chalifoux Morey, she graduated from Drury High School and from the former Bliss Business College.

Miss Morey was employed by the former New England Telephone Co. in the customer service department, retiring in 1985 after 38 years of service.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon, taught Sunday school and was active in its activities.

She was an advocate for the elderly and served as past president of the Clarksburg Senior Club.

She was also a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies' Auxiliary Aerie 310.

She leaves many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of local civic leader and advocate for the elderly, Lillian V. Morey, will be conducted Saturday at 11 at First Baptist Church of North Adams by the Rev. Willard E. Busl. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 8 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations are suggested for Camp Ashmere through the funeral home. She leaves 18 nieces and nephews, whom she greatly loved, and was devoted to them as if they were her own children: Patricia Rondeau, Sandra Torchia, Debra Kushnet, Lawrence Denault, William Denault, Alfred Denault, Ronald Denault, Edward Denault, Daniel Denault, Gary Denault, Michael Chalifoux, Thomas Chalifoux, Mary Ann Chalifoux, Kathy Chalifoux, Brian Chalifoux, Charles Chalifoux, Donald Gilbert and Bertha Davignon.

She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Catherine and Mary Chalifoux. She was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Pedercini and Alice Denault; five brothers, Thomas, Alfred, Jean, Raymond and Clarence Chalifoux; a nephew, Francis Denault, and a niece, Dolores Courtney.
