Donald Eugene Martin, 64, of Village East, 546 Union St., died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital shortly after being admitted.
Born in North Adams on May 10, 1941, son of James F. and Hazel Gifford Martin, he attended local schools.
At the time of his death, Mr. Martin had been employed in the maintenance department at Village East Apartments for 28 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and of the North Adams Lodge of Elks.
He and his wife, the former Patricia A. Champagne, would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary June 20.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Rickie J. Martin of Pittsfield andScottA.MartinofNorth Adams; a daughter, Dawn M. Cote of North Adams; a sister, Gloria Malloy of Palatka, Fla.; a stepsister, Cathy Martin of North Adams; a stepbrother, Allen Martin of the state of Florida; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside committal service for Donald Martin will be held at a date to be announced in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society through AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
He also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
