Gloria V. Beals, 72, of 546 Union St., Village East, Apt. 11A, died yesterday at home.
Born in Keene, N.H., on Feb. 2, 1933, daughter of Kenneth P. and Cirena LaDue Upton, she attended schools in North Adams.
She also had resided in Wichita, Kan.
Mrs. Beals was employed for several years by the former Hunter Outdoor Products, and later by the Wichita Greyhound Park.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.
Her husband, Francis "Red" Beals Sr., whom she married April 16, 1949, died May 7, 1999.
She leaves a son, Francis Beals Jr. of Augusta, Kan.; two daughters, Cirena Lemaire and Theresa Wheeler, both of North Adams; five brothers, Edward Upton of Las Vegas, Leo Upton of Cumberland, Ohio, Harold Upton of Dover, N.H., and Walter Upton and Robert Upton, both of North Adams; two sisters, Elizabeth Witherell of North Adams and Lois Fachini of the town of Florida; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Another son, William Beals, died Nov. 29, 2002.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gloria V. Upton Beals, who died Feb. 16, 2005, will be Saturday at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 9. Memorial donations are suggested for VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons-in-law, Bruce Lemaire and William Wheeler; a daughter-in-law, Diane Beals; nine grandchildren, Francis Beals III and his wife, Juana, Kellie Shipman and her husband, Jason, William Beals Jr., Raymond Beals, Amber Beals, Wendy Haley and her husband, Todd, William Wheeler Jr., Timothy Wheeler and Rebecca Wheeler, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, William Beals, on Nov. 29, 2002, and two brothers and two sisters, Donald Upton, Kenneth Upton, Gertrude Adkins and Madeline Bliss.
