Margaret A. "Peg" Slater, 69, of 5 Seminole Drive died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on May 30, 1931, daughter of James and Gertrude Leppelt Russell, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended North Adams schools. She graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Slater was employed by the former J.J. Newberry Store in North Adams for several years. She was then employed by Sprague Electric Co. as a shipping clerk and secretary for more than 40 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
She leaves her husband of 51 years, Thomas R. Slater, whom she married June 11, 1949, in North Adams; three sons, Thomas E. Slater of Adams, and James Slater and Mark Slater, both of North Adams; a sister, Joan Murray of Bloomfield, Conn.; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
At the request of Margaret Ann "Peg" Russell Slater, there will be no funeral services or calling hours. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Oncology Unit at North Adams Regional Hospital through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
