Frances Mary Shanahan, 85, formerly of 24 Wesleyan St., died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Barbara Randall, at 42 Wheeler Ave. in Clarksburg.
Born in Clarksburg on June 27, 1919, daughter of John and Grace Jordan Quirk, she attended schools in North Adams and was a 1937 graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Shanahan worked as a private seamstress.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis' and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Margaret 629.
Besides her daughter, she leaves a brother, Gerald Quirk of New Jersey; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her son, James Shanahan, died in 2001.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Frances Mary (Quirk) Shanahan will be tomorrow, Dec. 11, at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Diabetes Association or to United Cerebral Palsy Support Services in North Adams through the funeral home.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Kelly Klimek, Karen Randall, Linda Jackman, Michael Shanahan and Julie Ann Shanahan, and three great-grandchildren, Zachary James Klimek, Thomas Jackman and Joseph Jackman. She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Quirk. She was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
