Dorothy Marie LeMire, 81, of Holy Family Terrace died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Shushan, N.Y., on April 23, 1922, daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Thomas Gibbons, she attended schools in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
A homemaker, Mrs. LeMire had been employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. as a young woman.
She was a member of First Congregational Church.
Her husband, Arthur F. LeMire, whom she married Oct. 31, 1942, died Aug. 1, 1976.
She leaves seven daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Gilbert, Sharon Del Ratez, Darlene Demo, Marilynne LeMire, Dorothy "Dee Dee" Lewis and Susan Vareschi, all of North Adams, and Donna Donovan of Centerville; two sons, Arthur F. LeMire Jr. of Cheshire and Donald E. LeMire of Savoy, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Marie Gibbons LeMire will be conducted Wednesday at 9 at First Congregational Church of North Adams by the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor.
Private burial will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the state Commission for the Blind through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas Del Ratez, on May 25, 1996; a sister, Hazel Sprague, and three brothers, Leo, Chester and Ernest Gibbons.
