Robert Alfred Lemoine

Robert Alfred Lemoine, 83, of St. Joseph's Court, 85 Eagle St., died Saturday at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided since Nov. 20.

Born in Clarksburg on April 6, 1920, son of Henry and Aurore Mineau Lemoine, he attended schools in Jewett City, Conn.

A decorated Army veteran of World War II, he served as an automotive mechanic with the 250th Signal Operations Company and participated in the Rome, Arno, Rhineland and Central European campaigns. He enlisted in July 1942, and was honorably discharged in November 1945.

Mr. Lemoine retired from the former Arnold Print Works in Adams as a millwright in 1984.

He had previously been a master molder with the former James Hunter Foundry until it closed, and was employed by the former Strong-Hewat woolen mill in Clarksburg until entering the service.

He was a former member of First Baptist Church.

His wife, the former Phyllis Marian Booth, died March 27, 1979.

He leaves a son, David R. Lemoine of Manchester, Conn., and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert Alfred Lemoine, who died Dec. 6, 2003, will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 13, at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., by Mr. Lemoine's grandson, the Rev. David R. Lemoine Jr. of Reform, Ala.

Burial will take place in the family plot in Clarksburg Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 10 until the time of the funeral.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Donna J. Lemoine; two other grandchildren, Timothy S. Lemoine of St. Clair, Mich., and Jamie Lemoine-Johnson of Charlotte, N.C., and his longtime companion, Helen Walden of Williamstown. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
