NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Beatrice E. McCarthy, 93, of 130 Versailles Ave. died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on July 26, 1910, daughter of Henry and M. Vitaline Giguere Gageant, she attended Drury High School.
Mrs. McCarthy had been employed by several retail stores, including the former Boston Store, J.C. Penney and LeMoine's Jewelers.
She had also worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates for several years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and enjoyed crafts and spending time in her garden.
Her husband, William James McCarthy, whom she married July 30, 1938, in Holy Family Church, died May 4, 1996.
She leaves a daughter, Kathleen Anne McCarthy of Stamford, Vt.; two sisters, Rita Renton and her husband, James, of Cheshire and Rachel Waltz and her husband, Fred, of North Smithfield, R.I., and two brothers, Louis Gageant and his wife, Evelyn, of Ocean City, Md., and Lawrence Gageant and his wife, Dorothy, of Veneta, Ore.; another sister-in-law, Dorothy Gageant of North Adams; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, George Gageant and Richard Gageant.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. McCarthy will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247 is handling arrangements.
