Bruce Charles Jordan

Bruce Charles Jordan, 57, of 1222 Southwest 25th St., Orlando, Fla., a native of North Adams, died Thursday at home.

He had resided in Orlando for 30 years.

Born on April 20, 1946, son of Elizabeth L. Carsno Jordan of North Adams and the late Donald C. Jordan, he attended local schools until the age of 6, when he and his family moved to Westerlo, N.Y. He attended schools there and graduated from Burn-Knox High School in Westerlo.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a truck driver by several trucking companies. While in New York, he worked as a printer in the Albany, N.Y., area until moving to Orlando.

While in North Adams, he was a communicant of St. Francis’ Church.

Besides his mother, he leaves a daughter, Susan Mattox of Clarmont, Fla.; a son, Bruce Jordan of Orlando; his maternal grandmother, Florence Duverney Carsno of Baton Rouge, La.; and four grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, Joan Slawgter Jordan.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Bruce Charles Jordan will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams.

Burial will follow in Westerlo Cemetery, Westerlo, N.Y. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9 until the time of the Mass. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Christopher and Marissa Mattox, and his former wife, Joan (Slawgter) Jordan. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Ann Bunzey, who died in 2001.
