Genevieve Ann Ferdin, 81, of 57 Shelly Drive, Bethpage, N.Y., a native of North Adams, died Saturday at New Island Hospital in Bethpage.
Born on March 4, 1922, daughter of John J. and Victoria Elizabeth Zdon Gardzina, she attended Drury High School.
She moved to Bethpage in 1959.
Mrs. Ferdin was employed by Bethpage Motel for more than 28 years as a housekeeper.
While a resident of North Adams, she was a communicant of St. Francis’ Church.
Her husband, Edward Francis Ferdin, died May 8, 1965.
She leaves a son, Frederick Ferdin of Farmington, N.Y.; two sisters, Emily Harrington and Evelyn Davis, both of Williamstown; and four brothers, John Gardzina and Francis Gardzina, both of North Adams, Stanley Gardzina of Pittsfield and Daniel Gardzina of Auburn.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- At the request of Genevieve Ann Ferdin, a private Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 11 at St. Francis’ Church in North Adams.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Mrs. Ferdin was predeceased by a sister, Helen Brendza, and two brothers, Edward Gardzina and Joseph Gardzina. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
