George Franklin "Sonny" Busby

George Franklin "Sonny" Busby, 77, of 347 Beaver St. died Monday at Williamstown Commons, where he was admitted Jan. 16 following a short illness.
Born in North Adams on May 28, 1925, son of Frank G. and Bertha Sullivan Busby, he was educated in local schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater and in the Rome-Arno campaign in Italy. He was awarded several medals.
Mr. Busby was employed as a foreman with the former James Hunter Foundry. Previously, he had been a truck driver for the former James Hunter Machine Co. for many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW and the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion.
His wife, the former Irene Maureen Wade, whom he married Oct. 1, 1949, died Oct. 7, 1970. He leaves a sister, Julia Landry of Adams.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside committal services and burial with military honors for George F. "Sonny" Busby will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 at the Busby family plot in Southview Cemetery by the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor of First United Methodist Church of North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for First United Methodist Church of North Adams through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Survivors include his sister and her husband, George and Julia Landry of Adams; a niece, Cynthia Landry Krueger of Bristol, Conn.; grandniece Jennifer Krueger; grandnephews Jason Krueger, Joshua Krueger, Matthew Krueger; great-grandnieces Brandi Krueger and Zoe Krueger; and great-grandnephew Jared Krueger. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Richard Busby on Feb. 9, 1999.
