Ralph Joseph Little

Ralph Joseph Little, 77, of 158 Brooklyn St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield following a brief illness.

He was a well-known auto-body repairman and the founder of Little's Auto Body Shop on River Street.

Born in North Adams on April 16, 1925, son of Nelson E. Little and Elizabeth Major Little, he was educated in Adams schools.

He began his working life with Brewer Brothers Automobile Agency on Ashland Street and later with the former Shapiro Chevrolet (now Gateway Motors) on Union Street. He then transferred to the former Mohawk Motors on Marshall Street. He founded Little's Auto Body in the former Allen Battery building at 84-88 River St. in 1975, maintaining a full schedule until his death.

He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed fishing for salmon on Lake Ontario and for trout in local streams.

He leaves his wife, the former Pearl M. Brown, whom he married on April 10, 1950 in St. Francis of Assisi Church; a daughter, Suzanne Little Stefanik of Adams; two sons, Michael G. Little at home and Bruce R. Little of North Adams; two stepsisters, Helen LaPier and AnnaMae Burris of Texas and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private funeral services will take place Monday, Dec. 16, at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Burial will take place in the family plot at Southview Cemetery.

There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements.

He also leaves a son-in-law, Thomas Stefanik of Adams; daughter-in-law Debra Dailey Little of North Adams; grandchildren Katie M. Little and Scott C. Little of North Adams, and Michael Stefanik and Christopher J. Stefanik of Adams, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by sister Lucille Little and brothers Donald Little and Nelson E. Little Jr.
