Edmund Jenks Burdick

Edmund Jenks Burdick, 95, formerly of 85 Eagle St., died Monday at the Sweet Brook Care Center, where he had been admitted Feb. 11, 1999.

Born in Adams on July 1, 1907, son of Elmer and Mary Howland Burdick, he attended local schools. He had resided in North Adams since 1978.

He was employed at the former L.L. Brown Paper Co. in Adams for 25 years, retiring in 1978. Earlier, he had worked at the former Brightwater Paper Co. for 25 years.

While in Adams, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church. In North Adams he attended the First Baptist Church.

He enjoyed music and singing, and in his younger years had a half-hour program on an Albany, N.Y., radio station on Sunday mornings.

His closest survivor is a sister-in-law, Hazel Burdick of Williamstown.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Edmund Burdick will be conducted Thursday at 11 at the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. The Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor of the First Baptist Church, North Adams, will officiate.

Burial will follow. There are no calling hours. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to either the Salvation Army or North Adams Regional Hospital through the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.

He also leaves nephews Robert Burdick and Wesley Burdick, and three nieces, Ruth Tripp, Shirley Wilkins and Jeannette Jones.
