Lena Rita Calvano, 87, of 86 Lyman St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons, 25 Adams Road, Williamstown, where she had resided since February 2001.
Born in the Hoosac Tunnel section of Rowe on Aug. 4, 1914, she was the daughter of Ernest and Severina Buletti Solari. She moved to Adams with her family and attended local schools. In December 1921, she moved to North Adams and completed school there.
Mrs. Calvano was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. until the 1940s, when she moved to California. She returned to North Adams in 1971.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.
Her husband, Michael E. "Mickey" Calvano, whom she married May 7, 1949, died Sept. 11, 1976.
She leaves a sister, Rita Lemanski of Adams; three brothers, Armand P. and Peter J. Solari, both of North Adams, and Alfred J. Solari, with whom she resided before moving to the nursing home.
The funeral will be tomorrow, July 10, at 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1:30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, July 10, from 12:30 until the time of the funeral. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Francis' Building Fund through the funeral home.
