NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Robert John LaBombard Sr., 70, of 55 Seminole Drive died Friday, July 5, 2002, at home.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 6, 1931, son of Wilfred L. and Marion Walden LaBombard, he graduated from Drury High School and completed a year of college at the University of Texas while serving in the military.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he served from February 1950 to 1953 and was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member of the Air Force boxing team and boxed in Montana.
Mr. LaBombard was employed by Adams Laundry Co. (Aladco) from 1978 until his retirement in 1992. Prior to that, he worked at the former Widen Tannery for 15 years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas in Adams. He enjoyed sports, especially boxing and football, and animals.
He leaves his wife, the former Margaret V. Crawford, whom he married May 15, 1954; three daughters, Carol A. Luscier and Barbara A. Armata, both of Adams, and Gail M. Cary of North Adams; a son, R. John LaBombard Jr. of Adams; two sisters, Marianne Smith and Sally Lapine, both of North Adams; a brother, Martin LaBombard of North Adams; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Lawrence LaBombard, died June 20, 2002.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. LaBombard will be Monday at 8 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by Mass at 9 at Notre Dame Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Boyle, pastor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours are tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Donations to VNA & Hospice of North Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
