NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Janis A. Latimer, 85, of 482 East Main St. died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Willowood of Williamstown.
Born in Clarksburg, W.Va., on Aug. 14, 1915, daughter of Jess and Mary Lincoln Householder, she attended schools there.
Mrs. Latimer had lived for many years in New York City, where she was a lead dancer in many Broadway stage productions. She also worked as an actress in many radio programs.
In 1950, she left New York City for Pleasant Valley, Conn., where she concentrated on oil painting and sold many of her works. She was also involved in many theatrical productions in her local area. She moved to North Adams in 1998.
She was a member and past regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she enjoyed reading.
She leaves her husband, Charles W. Latimer; a son, Lance T. Latimer of North Adams, and three grandchildren.
