Robert J. Stanton, 68, of 447 River St. died Sunday at Western Massachusetts Hospital in Westfield after a long illness.
Born in North Adams on May 6, 1933, son of Francis W. and Victoria Arrighi Stanton, he attended Drury High School.
Mr. Stanton was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for almost 20 years and by Arnold Print Works for 15 years. He last worked as a school bus driver and for the former Schell Memorials, retiring in 1982.
He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.
He leaves two sons, John Robert Stanton of Amherst and Steven Craig Stanton of Merritt Island, Fla.; a daughter, Susan Jane Stanton of Williamstown; a sister, Patricia Ann Lescarbeau of North Adams, and three grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers, Francis W. Stanton Jr., Aug. 6, 1981, Richard J. Stanton, Dec. 1, 1958, and a sister in infancy.
The funeral will be Thursday, March 14, at 12:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by services at 1:30 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, March 13, from 4 to 8. Flowers or memorial donations for St. Francis' Church through the funeral home.
