NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Eva (Decoteau) Maruco, 107 of North Adams, MA died on Wednesday September 10, 2025 at Williamstown Commons.
Eva was born on June 13, 1918 in North Adams, MA, a daughter of the late Phillippe Decoteau and Amanda (Mousseau) Decoteau. Eva attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School.
In addition to raising her family, Eva worked at the former Excelsior Print and Wall-Streeter Shoe companies. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and its Rosary Society, Volunteer at its annual Bazaar and enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family, most notably her lemon squares, homemade pies and spaghetti and meatballs.
Eva was the widow of Peter Joseph Maruco who died on May 21, 1994. They were married October 4, 1953. Eva leaves her 3 sons, Francis P. Maruco (Anna Marie Arabia) of North Adams, Philip E. Maruco (Janet) of Kansas City, MO, and Peter J. Maruco Jr. (Jennifer) of Goffstown, NH. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, Justin (Tattiya), Jeremy (Bonnie), Jessica (Dante), Amanda (Marc), Zachary Maruco, and Benjamin Maruco as well as 2 great grandchildren, Rocco Maruco and Lana Lapierre and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alcide Decoteau, Philip Decoteau, Gloria Clermont, Cecile Decoteau, Rita Rosch and Anita Hargreaves.
When asked recently about the secret to reaching 106, Eva Maruco had a simple response- "Just keep going”.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Eva Maruco will be on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday September 26, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home – WEST CHAPEL 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247.
