NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —

It is with profound sadness that we announce that Nancy A (Davis) Waltermire of North Adams passed away on September 9, 2025. Nancy was born on August 20 1938 to James and Lorraine (Wright) Davis. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School in the class of 1956. In 1958, Nancy married the late Robert D Waltermire and they remained together until his passing in 2023.

Nancy was a long-time secretary for many law offices in the area, but she was most proud of and well-remembered for serving the Northern Berkshire Community as the Operator of The Skate Shop at the Veterans Memorial Rink in North Adams. She took great pleasure in supporting the various groups that utilized this ice facility from it’s opening in the late 1960s until she retired in 2012.

Nancy was a Past High Priestess of Helma Court #64 of the Ladies’ Oriental Shrine of North America and a long-time member of the Ahlem Temple #84 of the Daughters’of the Nile. Nancy and Bob were both long-time volunteers and supporter of the annual Melha Shriners circus at the Big E every May.

Nancy is survived by her five children; Myra Wilk (Bud Green) of Adams, Martha Storey of Royal Palm Beach FL, James (Lisa) Waltermire of Adams, David (Lynn) Waltermire of Adams, and Karl Waltermire of North Adams. Nancy leaves behind her eight grandchildren; Kathryn (Corey) Gillis and John (Ann ScottWilk, Nicholas (Sarah) Waltermire and Celia (Brad) Botto, Jenna Waltermire and Matthew (Annie) Waltermire, Joseph Storey, and Caroline Waltermire. Nancy was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Connor Gillis, Ayden Waltermire, and Remi Waltermire. She also leaves behind her sister Carol A (Francis) Morandi of North Adams, her nephew Francis (Rachel) Morandi of Bellingham, and her great niece Elizabeth Morandi. She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law Thomas Storey.

The Waltermire family would like extend a thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at North Adams Regional Hospital Medical Unit for the excellent care, compassion, and support they showed our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the entire family through Nancy’s final days.

At Nancy’s request, there will only be a private service at the convenience of the family. Nancy requested that all donations be made to the Shriner Hospital New England through the funeral home. To add to the Book of Memories, please visit flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.

Nancy was the link for all the Drury class of 1956. She kept all the reunions and class roster up to date. The class offered to pay her but she declined saying she enjoyed doing whatever she could to keep the class data available to her classmates. We need more people like her.

The Waltermire Family.
Just read of Nancy' s passing. I remember well ,the informal conversations that I shared with her & her late husband while under the employ of the State of MA at the then Vietnam Memorial Skating Rink in North Adams. At that time the Waltermire Family was totally immersed in ice hockey. They ran the rental shop. Their kindness and graciousness was an earmark of the way they ran their business and conducted themselves as a Family. My sincere condolences go out to you Joe
