Mildred Smith, 99, formerly of 39 Willow St., died Thursday evening at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on May 10, 1902, daughter of Daniel and Catherine Fitzsimmons O'Connell, she attended schools in North Adams and Bennington, Vt.
Mrs. Smith was employed by the former McGraw & Tatro Department Store as a bookkeeper and, most recently, at the North Adams Public Library for 10 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church.
Her husband, John Anthony Smith, died June 2, 1962.
She leaves several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis Building Fund through the funeral home.
