NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On a bright sunny morning on April 28, 2025, in Naples, Fla., Ellen Dami, 83, peacefully passed away with her loving children by her side, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Ellen was born in Cambridge on March 31, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. Klein and Beatrice R. (Schneider) Klein. Ellen was the eldest of 3 children.
Ellen lived most of her adult life in North Adams before moving to Southwest Florida. While in Florida, Ellen worked several jobs, but thoroughly enjoyed working as a clerk for the Lee Count Sheriffs Office for 11 years. She developed many very special frindships from her time there that continued through her retirement.
Ellen was known for her love of baking, especially her brownies and cookies. As a self proclaimed chocoholic, she could never pass up a hot fudge sundae without adding EXTRA hot fudge.
Her favorites in life were relaxing on the beach, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Ellen was also known for her love of jewelry, big earrings, youthful fashion and outgoing personality. She met everyone with a smile and a compliment. She brought joy and laughter to everyone who was fortunate to meet her.
Family was the most important part of her life and she was proud to be a mom to her three children. As grandchildren arrived, she became lovingly known as "Mimi", not only to her grandchildren, but to many of the other special children in her life. Even the adults in her life called her "Mimi".
Everyone loved Mimi and all the special times and memories they created with her. Ellen extended her love to some special children who she cherished the opportunity to help raise like her own, along with their families.
She is survived by her three children, Erica Pecor and her husband Jeff of Clarksburg, MA, Pamela Hill of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jeffrey Dami and his significant other Natasha Wiedemann of Bonita Springs, Fla.
Six grandsons, Benjamin Pecor (Ciera Dowling), Brett Pecor (Madison Vadnais), Cody Hill, Cory Hill and his wife Alana, Michael Dami (Leyla Yonlisky), and Hayden Dami. She also leaves her first great grandson, Hayes W. Hill. Her brother Henry Klein of Kannapolis, NC, and a niece Dayna Williams and her family of Gainsville, GA. Her former husband Jim Dami and significant other Marilyn Tower, Natasha's
children Zai and Manny Pacheco.
Our mom wanted to recognize the families that became such a big part of her life who she considered extended family. They are the Diamantis family, Alex, Graciela, Emily and Mattias. The Thorpe family, Ashley, Jamie, and Sawyer. The Rosario family, Dina, Suriel, Mia and Maxx.
She was predeceased by her sister Susan Klein.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Oncology Doctors, nurses, and staff at the NCH North & Baker Hospital in Naples for the exceptional care given to our mother. The compassion, comfort, and love shown, made a huge impact in her final days. A special thank you to Lyv "My Lyvie" as mom called her, Meghan, Sasha, Aj, Maggie, Dr. Rolek, Julian, Monique and Tina.
There will be no formal services, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
