Barbara E. Breda-Bolte, 70

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Barbara Ellen Breda-Bolte, 70, of North Adams, died Friday morning, April 11, 2025 at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in North Adams on March 11, 1955, a daughter of the late Genesio and Dorothy (Genesi) Breda. She attended North Adams schools, graduating from the former St. Joseph High School.



Barbara had worked for the Caleb Foundation as the property manager at Mohawk Forest Apartments for 29 years, until retiring in 2022. Earlier, she had worked for a time in the Assessor’s office at North Adams City Hall. She was communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams, and had been active with Habitat for Humanity.



She enjoyed doing arts, crafts and baking goods for everybody around. Barbara loved attending to her flower beds, spending weekends with her husband and family at her campsite in Lake George. She enjoyed shopping and spoiling everybody around her just to put a smile on their face. She left a long lasting heartfelt impression on everybody she crossed paths with. Her infectious smile would light up a room.



She is survived by her husband, Juan E. Bolte, whom she married on July 29, 2006; two sons, Jason DeGrenier of Sebastopol, CA and Joshua DeGrenier and his partner Amanda Comstock of North Adams; one daughter, Jessica DeGrenier of North Adams; her grandchildren Alyssa, Kelsey, Taylor, Madison and Carter; great grand children Rylin and Zhyir; two stepsons, Trent Bolte and his wife Sarah of Northborough, MA and Tyler Bolte and his wife Jackie of North Adams; one stepdaughter, Lindsay Bolte of North Adams; step grandchildren Paige, Olivia, Dayton, Cooper, Arlo and Oliver; her seven sisters- Marlene Haas and her husband Mervin of Lanesborough, Jean Breda-Noyes of New Port Richey, FL, Lynne Breda and her partner Jan McGowan of North Adams, Donna Turner and her partner Donald Tatro of Pittsfield, Debra Breda-DeMarsico and her partner Tim O’Connell of Pittsfield, Janice Breda-DiStefano and her partner John Cavanna of Glastonbury, CT and Nancy Breda-Vittone and her husband Jeff of St. Petersburg, FL; her Father-and Mother-in-law, Henry “Huck” and Rosalie Bolte of North Adams, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.



A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11:00 AM in St Elizabeth Church, North Adams. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, are Monday, April 21st from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. Dear Jess, Josh, and Jason,

I can’t begin to express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I have such cherished memories of our childhood spent at your home, and I’ll always be grateful for the warmth and love Barb shared with all of us. She was not just a mother to you, but a mother figure to all of us kids, and her kindness will never be forgotten.
