NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Janet A. Maniatis, 76, of North Bar Ct, Myrtle Beach, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at home after a battle with cancer.
Born on Aug. 9, 1948, in North Adams, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Madeline Roulier LaBonte of Adams.
Janet attended the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams and graduated from Albany Business College in New York. She became an accountant and then turned her passion for gardening into a career serving the Berkshire County businesses and homeowners until retiring and moving to Myrtle Beach SC.
She lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and an undeniable zest for the simple joys of life. She had a deep love for gardening, finding peace and beauty in every bloom she nurtured. She loved taking walks, always appreciating the world around her, and cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Whether hosting gatherings filled with laughter, enjoying quiet conversations, or simply being present for those she loved, she had a way of making everyone feel special and deeply valued. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her infectious smile could brighten even the cloudiest days. She had an incredible ability to make friends wherever she went, always greeting the world with kindness and grace. Known for her impeccable style, she always had a polished and effortlessly stylish presence, and her home reflected her keen eye for decorating—warm, welcoming, and filled with love.
She was pre-deceased by her brother William LaBonte. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Maniatis; children, Kerry and John Patterson of Charlotte, NC. Ann and Tim Walko of Florence, MA; step-children, Kristy Maniatis of Boston, MA, Jennifer Maniatis of Swampscott, MA, Christopher Maniatis of Hartford, CT; grandchildren, Karly and Jesse Patterson, Nicholas Capers, Matthew Walko, Lily, Grace, and Ella Reiter, Max, Lucy, and Vega Maniatis; siblings, Barbara (Robert) Swanson, Carolyn (Thomas) Chalifoux, Suzanne (Thomas) LeClair, and Richard LaBonte.
