NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Deborah Ann Walker, of Granby, passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2025, at the Fisher Home in Amherst.
Born in North Adams, on Jan. 16, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Doris (Dolle) Wood of Clarksburg. Deborah attended Drury High School and graduated in 1975 from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She co-owned Wee Ones, a children's consignment shop in South Hadley, and later enjoyed a fulfilling 30-year career at MeadWestvaco, where she held several roles, including Human Resources, Accounting, and Customer Service.
Deborah was married to Joel F. Walker for 49 years, celebrating their anniversary on Oct. 4. In addition to her devoted husband, she leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer Fournier, and her husband Jeremy Fournier of South Hadley.
She is also survived by two brothers, Robert M. Wood and his wife Beverly, and Warren D. Wood and his wife Susan, of Pittsfield. Deborah cherished her role as a grandmother, aunt, and friend, especially enjoying time with her beloved grandchildren, Bradley and Kayla Fournier, her dear friend Debra Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
Deborah was known for her warmth, wit, and the joy she found in connecting with others. She loved chatting and laughing with friends, selecting thoughtful gifts, visiting the beach, and capturing moments through photography. A creative soul, she found peace in watercolor painting, experimenting with new recipes, cooking meals for her family, and cheering on the Red Sox and Celtics.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deborah's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
The funeral will be Friday, January 10th, starting with a calling hour at The O'Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a funeral home service at 11:00.
