Raymond Blair, 77

September 20, 2024

Raymond James Blair, 77, of North Adams, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Williamstown Commons, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 23, 1946, in North Adams, he was the beloved son of the late William R. and Doris A. (Conway) Blair. Raymond grew up in Clarksburg, where he attended local schools before graduating from the electrical program at Charles H. McCann Technical High School.

In 1969, he married Carole Ann Floriani, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, dedication, and shared memories. A master electrician, Raymond brought his skills to Petricca Construction, Pfizer, and later Specialty Minerals. He was deeply committed to his community, volunteering with the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Company, Clarksburg Ambulance, and Boy Scouts of a America when he was younger, and then at the North Adams Regional Hospital after he retired.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Carole, and his two sons, Michael F. Blair and his wife Monica L. Trust of Tewksbury, MA, and Neal P. Blair of Pittsfield, MA. Raymond was a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Stefanie E. Blair of Boston, MA, and Hallie O. Blair of New York, NY, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and extended family. Raymond was predeceased by his brother, Robert E. Blair.

Raymond had a passion for flight simulation and traveled the world from the comfort of his home. He was a devoted Red Sox fan, rarely missing a game, regardless of the results. But more than anything, he cherished the time spent with his family. His kind and generous spirit and unwavering support will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Recollections & Sympathy For the Family
Post Comment
Dear Carole, I’m so glad we had lunch together & some time in my backyard, shortly before my move. It was probably the most time I’d spent with you both, and was so enjoyable. Ray was such a good man. My most sincere sympathy & condolences to you, Michael, & Neal. May your memories sustain you at this most difficult time.

My Uncle Ray was a kind and gentle person. He went out of his to help my parents when they were alive. I can’t count the times he helped with transportation for doctor appointments or dropped off some groceries. He will be missed by all who loved him.

I met Ray when he was a volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital. We would have some really insightful conversations on most days. I didn’t know him really well, but what I did know was that he was the kind of person who enjoyed helping people. He will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss.
Sincerely, Diane Pytko
